Really? This is OSU right?

Today was frustrating. 2 weeks ago DR. O'Malley said we should meet with all of my immediate family to discuss further treatment options. So today my husband, mother, sister, brother, daughter (took off work) and I were there to meet with him and he was ON VACATION!!! Can you believe that? Gary & I were very upset.

We spoke with another doctor, nurse practitioner, and chemo nurses and EVERYONE was very embarrassed that it happened. According to all of them this will NOT happen again. I also discussed the fact that my CT's & MRI's are never on the chart when I get there and always give them my copy. And don't they ever call the pt with the results? Dr Lutman from Riverside used to call me THE NEXT DAY! WTH?! Somebody's dropping the ball here...a majorly BIG ball in my opinion!

Well, after discussion with Dr. Cohn today we decided to continue with the same chemo. Same because it is keeping it from growing. There are not many other chemo options. I am going to call MD Anderson in Texas and see what their thoughts are. I will also talk with Dr. O'Malley about his idea of surgery down the road...

Gary is concerned about my pain increasing slightly over the last 2 weeks. We discussed surgery to remove just my colon and have a colostomy placed since this seems to be where my pain is coming from. He said it was an option when I decided I wanted it.

Other news...my old port site on my right chest is not healing yet. Still packing the small hole with iodoform and I have a lot of drainage from it. I got the sutures out of the incision on Monday. Have steri strips covering it, so I hope it heals well!! The Avastin chemo prevents good wound healing. :(

So that's the scoop for the week... feeling a little better from my fall finally but still not quite as strong as I was pre-fall. I have a place on my right hand that won't heal also from the fall. Damn, I need to stay upright!!!!

It's 2010! Time to Reflect...

Almost 18 months cancer-free...how long will it last? Such an aggressive cancer, this damn Leiomyosarcoma! Every CT/MRI I have had since my completion of radiation in August 2008 was VERY stressful. Even when I didn't realize it, "SCAN"XIETY loomed in the back of head. Knowing that I had a 50% chance of the cancer returning. Wondering if NOT having chemo back then was the right path. Since my doc's hadn't dealt with many sarcomas, did they really know the BEST treatments?

The last year and half has brought me so much joy and contentment. To be a GRANDMA! Wow. I love it! To become so much closer to my family. My sis is my best friend now! My husband and I couldn't be any closer. I get to see my daughter and her family every week when I go to babysit my little Maxton. My stepdaughter moved in with our youngest grandson, Marcus, for 6 months. He is a little angel. My Mom has been so much help to me through all my health issues. My stepdad and I have become closer than I ever thought possible. He has been down the cancer road as well. My Mother-in-law has moved closer to us and our relationship has grown. And then I began working at Samaritan and have some wonderful friends! I love that place so much! It's worth the 45 minute drive.

I HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE!
And I know how to live it...by the seat of my pants! :)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a beer (or tequila) in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming "woo hoo, what a ride"

**HEY! DON'T FORGET TO GO TO "OLDER POSTS" JUST ABOVE THIS ON THE RIGHT. LOTS OF COOL INFO THERE TOO! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS ME WITH TIM MCGRAW!
