OSU VACATION?

I arrived at OSU James Center on Saturday at 4:30am by squad after I spent almost 9 hours in Galion ER. Uggggg!! The CT scan showed I was having abdominal pain from a partial obstruction. This is nothing new for me. I have had these 6-7 times before since having some of my colon removed in April 2008 when I had my first tumor removed.

Usually I just ride it out at home and after 10-12 hours the obstruction resolves on its own. I just don't eat anything and I take phenergan for nausea and percocet for the pain. But this time I decided that I deal with enough pain, so I needed something more than percocet. While at GCH they found my wbc's were elevated so my docs wanted me admitted to OSU overnite. Turns out it was elevated due to the Neulasta injection I received last week. Gee, that's funny, cuz THAT'S what it's SUPPOSED to do! lol

I didn't have any more tests performed after arriving at OSU. Just some labs. Rechecking my WBC's and making sure my plumbing was going to work properly were the main reasons to be there. Plumbing...uhhh, yeh, that's what takes awhile with me....wating, waiting, waiting...

But the good news is I LOVED THE NURSES at OSU. I was on 10 East Doan (which I guess is an extension of the James). My nurses were :Jen, Emily, Kelly, Marie, Jess, Patty, and Stacy. The aides were so nice as well. They were: Linda, Valerie, Taneka, Bob, and Nick-at-Night. I hope I didn't forget anyone! They were all fabulous. I did not have to wait for pain meds. They were on top of things!

Most of the food was pretty good (Not so much the chicken). But the choc cake...YUMMO! I don't like their meal times: 9am-1pm-6:30pm. Kinda late huh? Especially when those damn resident docs come in at 5:45 am! Gesh! On the 2nd day I found the floor kitchenette where they had some goodies available.

Ok, the view from the room leaves a bit to be desired. lol

Someone took over my bed as soon as he arrived. Here is Gary, Dave(my step-dad) & my Mom.

It's 2010! Time to Reflect...

Almost 18 months cancer-free...how long will it last? Such an aggressive cancer, this damn Leiomyosarcoma! Every CT/MRI I have had since my completion of radiation in August 2008 was VERY stressful. Even when I didn't realize it, "SCAN"XIETY loomed in the back of head. Knowing that I had a 50% chance of the cancer returning. Wondering if NOT having chemo back then was the right path. Since my doc's hadn't dealt with many sarcomas, did they really know the BEST treatments?

The last year and half has brought me so much joy and contentment. To be a GRANDMA! Wow. I love it! To become so much closer to my family. My sis is my best friend now! My husband and I couldn't be any closer. I get to see my daughter and her family every week when I go to babysit my little Maxton. My stepdaughter moved in with our youngest grandson, Marcus, for 6 months. He is a little angel. My Mom has been so much help to me through all my health issues. My stepdad and I have become closer than I ever thought possible. He has been down the cancer road as well. My Mother-in-law has moved closer to us and our relationship has grown. And then I began working at Samaritan and have some wonderful friends! I love that place so much! It's worth the 45 minute drive.

I HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE!
And I know how to live it...by the seat of my pants! :)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a beer (or tequila) in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming "woo hoo, what a ride"

**HEY! DON'T FORGET TO GO TO "OLDER POSTS" JUST ABOVE THIS ON THE RIGHT. LOTS OF COOL INFO THERE TOO! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS ME WITH TIM MCGRAW!
